ATEX Communication Equipment for Hazardous Areas

People in a zoned area need to talk to each other and to the control room, and every device that makes that possible, from a two-way radio to a headset and a loudspeaker, must be certified for the zone. Talking: radios and repeaters

The ATEX radios are the core of this category: the Motorola DP4000Ex series and the MTP810Ex TETRA radio, the Hytera PD795 Ex, the Icom IC-F51 and IC-F61, and the Entel DT953 DMR446 licence-free radio for Zone 1. Mobile radios for vehicles and PMR radios for Zone 2 have their own pages, and the FRX-1 radio signal repeater extends coverage inside steel structures.

Communicating in noise

Noise and explosion protection go together, so most ATEX headsets combine both. The Sensear SM1P02-Ex range and the LiteCom Pro III Ex for Zone 0/20 provide hearing protection with built-in radio, the Titan Firecomm F1 and F4 with throat and skull microphones serve firefighting and breathing apparatus, and the IS-HS1.1 and Ex-TRA headsets connect to certified smartphones.

Seeing, collecting and signalling

Smart glasses such as the RealWear Navigator Z1, the HMT-1Z1 and the XC-glasses let a remote expert see what the technician sees. Rugged PDAs like the Nautiz X2 and X41 handle data collection. Visual and audible signalling is covered by the ZAB1 flashing beacons for Zone 1, combined horn and beacon units, and explosion proof PA loudspeakers for Zone 1 and Zone 2.
