About ATEXshop.com
ATEXshop.com is an online shop for ATEX and IECEx certified equipment for hazardous areas. We supply explosion proof and intrinsically safe phones, tablets, cameras, lighting, radios, measuring instruments and more to companies in oil and gas, chemicals, shipping and other industries. The shop has been online since 2008 and is run by Cobic B.V. in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands.
Our history
ATEXshop.com has its roots in Comm-Co, a telecom company that started in 1992 in Hulst, in the south-west of the Netherlands near the Belgian border. Comm-Co advised businesses in Zeeland and northern Flanders on mobile phone, fax and data communication. In the early 2000s it added explosion proof (Ex) equipment to its range. Its motto was "We sell you what you need, not what we have".
In 2008 Comm-Co opened ATEXshop.com as a dedicated webshop for ATEX equipment. It started with about a dozen products, such as ATEX mobile phones, two-way radios, flashlights and CCTV cameras. By 2012 the range had grown to more than 300 products, mainly for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
At the end of 2024 Cobic B.V. took over ATEXshop.com from Comm-Co and its owner, Jacques Duerinck. Comm-Co continues in Hulst with rugged and telecom products. ATEXshop.com is now run from Ridderkerk, in the same group as Armadex and Ex-Machinery.
What we supply
The shop lists more than 1,800 products from brands such as Getac, i.safe MOBILE, Pepperl+Fuchs, Sonim, Bartec, Xciel and Armadex. Our main product groups:
- Phones: explosion proof smartphones, ATEX phone cases and ATEX mobile phones
- Computers: intrinsically safe tablets, ATEX tablet cases and ATEX computers
- Cameras and drones: ATEX cameras, ATEX thermal imaging cameras and ATEX drones
- Lighting and communication: ATEX flashlights, ATEX radios and ATEX headsets
- Measurement and HVAC: ATEX gas detectors and explosion proof air conditioners
How we work
- Quotes and advice. Many customers ask for a quote. Tell us where the equipment will be used, for example the zone, the gas or dust group and the temperature class, and we will suggest products that match.
- Beyond the catalogue. Is the product you need not listed? Ask us. We still work by the Comm-Co motto: we sell you what you need, not what we have.
- International delivery. Orders can be shipped to more than 70 countries. We estimate the import fee deposit during checkout and provide customs clearance on your behalf. See Shipping and Delivery.
- Payment. Bank transfer or credit card, see Payment Information. Prices on the site exclude VAT.
A project example
Sometimes a simple question turns into a larger project. Curoil supplies fuel on Curaçao. Its local partner asked us for an ATEX tablet. Part of a group
ATEXshop.com is run by Cobic B.V., which also runs Cobic-Ex. Cobic belongs to the same group of companies as Ex-Machinery and Armadex, both based in Ridderkerk:
- Ex-Machinery makes explosion proof air conditioners, heaters, Wi-Fi systems and custom machinery. It works with OEM manufacturers to make their equipment ATEX compliant.
- Armadex offers ATEX equipment under its own brand, such as the TCO-60 inspection camera and the Ex UniCase, an ATEX and IECEx certified tablet case for Zone 2 and 22, with inlays for specific tablet models.
