Do you have to provide your data?

You are not obliged to provide personal data. However, some data are needed to answer your question, prepare a quotation or conclude and perform a contract, and the law requires certain details on an invoice, such as your company name and address and, for deliveries to businesses in other EU countries, your VAT number. Without these details we cannot answer your question, prepare a quotation, deliver an order or issue an invoice.

Who receives your data

We never sell your personal data. We only share it where this is needed for the purposes above or where the law requires it:

  • Carriers, mostly FedEx, for the delivery of your order.
  • Suppliers and manufacturers, where a product is delivered to you directly by them.
  • Our bank and payment service providers, for processing payments.
  • Our accountant, for our financial administration.
  • IT service providers that process data on our behalf: our hosting provider, Cloudflare (website delivery and security) and Google (email through Google Workspace, Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA).
  • Google Fonts (Google), which supplies the fonts of our website and receives your IP address for this. Google's own privacy policy applies to this.
  • YouTube (Google), on product pages that contain an embedded video.
  • Authorities, such as the tax authorities or customs, where we are legally required to share data.

Transfers outside the European Economic Area

Some of our service providers, such as Google and Cloudflare, may process data in the United States. These companies are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision. Where needed, standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission are used. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards, or for a copy, at [email protected].

When we deliver an order to an address outside the European Economic Area, we share the necessary delivery details with the carrier and, where required, with customs in the country of destination, because this is necessary to perform the contract.

How long we keep your data

  • Invoices and the related customer and order data: seven years, as required by Dutch tax law.
  • Quotations, questions and business correspondence: as long as this is relevant to an existing or expected business relationship.
  • Customer account: until you ask us to delete your account. Data we must keep for tax purposes remain in our records for the statutory period.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Website statistics in Google Analytics: for the data retention period set in our Google Analytics account, at most 14 months. After that, only aggregated reports remain.
  • Other technical data, such as security and server logs: only as long as needed to secure our website and solve technical problems.
  • Product reviews: as long as the review is shown on our website, or until you ask us to remove it.
  • Cookies: see the lifetimes in the table below.

Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Our website is only available over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), our forms are protected against spam and misuse, and only staff who need the data for their work have access to it. If a data breach occurs that affects you, we will inform you where the law requires this.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing and to receive it in a commonly used format (data portability). Where we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before. Send your request to [email protected]. We respond within one month.

Right to object. You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interest, for example the measurement of website use (see Cookies for how to object). You can also object at any time to the use of your data for direct marketing, such as our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time under Newsletter Subscriptions in your customer account, or by emailing [email protected].

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects for you.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Our website uses functional cookies that are needed for the shop to work, and analytical cookies to measure how the website is used. We do not place advertising cookies ourselves. YouTube videos embedded on some product pages place YouTube cookies as soon as the page loads, also if you do not play the video. YouTube may also use these cookies for its own purposes.

Our website also stores some technical data in your browser's storage, such as information about recently viewed products, and a short-lived marker that shows the thank-you page after you send the contact form. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address; no cookies are placed for this.

Google Analytics receives your IP address. According to Google, it uses the IP address of visitors from the European Union only to estimate their approximate location and does not store it. Google Analytics starts measuring as soon as a page loads. You can object to this at any time by installing Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which prevents your data from being used by Google Analytics, or by blocking or deleting analytical cookies in your browser settings. If you have questions about this, please contact us. Blocking functional cookies may stop parts of the shop from working.

For more information about how Google processes data, see the Google Privacy Policy.
