Measuring is the reason most people enter a zoned area: gas concentrations, temperatures, pressures, flows, sound levels, weights. The instrument has to be certified for the zone, and for most handheld instruments that means intrinsically safe: the circuits are limited so that they cannot release enough energy to ignite the atmosphere. What is in the air

Portable gas detectors from Honeywell BW (Solo, Ultra, GasAlert MicroClip), MSA (Altair 4X), RAE (QRAE 3, ToxiRAE 3) and Blackline Safety (G7c, G7x with wireless connectivity) form the largest group, from single-gas monitors to connected multi-gas detectors. Fixed detectors and dust monitors are listed alongside.

Distance, sound, radiation, pressure and temperature

The meters section is organised by quantity: airflow meters and velocity sensors, laser distance meters and the Z+F Imager 5006EX 3D laser scanner, radiation monitors and dosimeters, and sound level meters. Fluke covers calibration and temperature with the 718Ex and 721Ex pressure calibrators, the 707Ex loop calibrator and the 568 EX infrared thermometer, and the Ultraprobe 2000 and 9000 detect leaks and steam trap faults ultrasonically.

Measuring continuously, and weighing

Wireless sensors for Zone 1 and Zone 2, such as the LoRa Sushi sensors for pressure, temperature and vibration, the FitMachine EX condition monitor and the Watteco pulse counters, feed the dataloggers from the myDatalog series and LoRaWAN gateways. Certified bench and floor scales from Bos and INDATEX handle weighing in Zone 1/21. Barcode and RFID reading is covered under ATEX scanners.

Start from the measurement task and the zone, then check the exact marking on the product page, in particular the temperature class and gas group for gas detectors and sensors. Handheld instruments ship from stock in 1-3 working days across Europe and worldwide; fixed sensor networks and scales are quoted per project.
