Complete Climate Control Solutions for Explosive Atmospheres

Our ATEX-certified split air conditioning systems provide safe, reliable cooling and heating for facilities handling flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dusts. Each system consists of an indoor unit (evaporator) and outdoor unit (condenser) connected by refrigerant piping, offering flexible configuration options to match your specific hazardous area classification needs.

ATEX Certified: Zone 2 (3G) and Zone 22 (3D) | 5-Year Warranty Included | Worldwide Shipping to 50+ Countries | 24-Hour Quotation

How Split Air Conditioning Systems Work

Indoor Unit (Evaporator)

Installed inside the conditioned space, the indoor unit absorbs heat from the room air through the evaporator coil and circulates cooled or heated air throughout the space. Available in four styles: wall mount, ceiling suspended, cassette, or ducted.

Outdoor Unit (Condenser)

Located outside or in a separate equipment area, the outdoor unit houses the compressor and condenser coil. It rejects the absorbed heat to the outdoor environment and pumps refrigerant through the system.

Refrigerant Connection

Copper refrigerant lines connect the indoor and outdoor units, allowing the system to transfer heat efficiently. Lines can span up to 85 meters with level differences up to 30 meters depending on the model.

Three Flexible Configuration Options

Every split system can be configured to match your facility's hazardous area classification. Choose the configuration that fits your specific needs:

1 Indoor Unit for ATEX Zone 2 + Outdoor Unit for Safe Area

Most Common Configuration (70% of installations)

The ATEX-certified indoor unit operates safely inside your hazardous classified space (Zone 2 or 22), while the standard outdoor unit is installed in a non-classified safe area. This is the most cost-effective solution as only one unit requires ATEX certification.

Typical Applications: Indoor control rooms with outdoor equipment in safe zone, battery rooms, indoor storage facilities, analyzer rooms

Cost Advantage: Only indoor unit requires ATEX modification

2 Indoor Unit for Safe Area + Outdoor Unit for ATEX Zone 2

For Outdoor Hazardous Zones

The standard indoor unit operates in a safe indoor space, while the ATEX-certified outdoor unit is installed in an outdoor classified hazardous area. Ideal when the outdoor environment presents explosion risks but indoor spaces are non-classified.

Typical Applications: Offshore platform accommodations, outdoor chemical processing areas, indoor safe rooms in refineries, marine vessels

Cost Advantage: Only outdoor unit requires ATEX modification

3 Both Indoor and Outdoor Units for ATEX Zone 2

Complete Explosion-Proof System

Both the indoor and outdoor units are ATEX-certified for installation in classified hazardous zones. This configuration provides maximum flexibility when both locations fall within Zone 2 or Zone 22 classified areas.

Typical Applications: Fully classified facilities, offshore processing platforms, paint booths with outdoor classified zones, chemical plants where both areas are hazardous

Note: Both units require ATEX modification for complete system compliance

ATEX Certification & Safety

Important: ATEX Certification Requirements

ATEX certification is required for equipment installed in areas classified as potentially explosive atmospheres due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mists, or combustible dusts.

  • Zone 2 (Gas): Areas where explosive gas atmospheres are not likely to occur in normal operation, or if they do occur, will only exist for a short period
  • Zone 22 (Dust): Areas where explosive dust atmospheres are not likely to occur in normal operation, or if they do occur, will only persist for a short period

Gas Atmospheres Certification (Zone 2):

  • Indoor Units: II 3G Ex h ic nAC IIB (+H2) T4 Gc
  • Outdoor Units: II 3G Ex h nAC IIB (+H2) T3 Gc

Dust Atmospheres Certification (Zone 22):

  • Indoor Units: II 3D Ex tc h IIIB T140°C Dc
  • Outdoor Units: II 3D Ex tc h IIIB (+H2) T150°C Dc

Applied Standards:
EN 60079-0, EN 60079-11, EN 60079-15, EN 60079-31, EN 60079-36, EN 80079-37
