This complete set consists of the Armadex Ex UniCase enclosure, the device-specific inlay set and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ with an 11 inch display. The UniCase is ATEX and IECEx certified for use in Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust) under certificates OBAC 26 ATEX 0194X and IECEx OBAC 26.0005X. The set is intended for buyers looking for an ATEX or explosion proof tablet for Zone 2 and Zone 22.
Gas protection is based on restricted breathing (Ex nR) and dust protection on protection by enclosure (Ex tc). The touchscreen is operated through the transparent front cover, and three stainless steel push buttons operate the buttons of the tablet via a patented inlay system. The USB socket in the frame is intended for use outside the hazardous area only.

Why this set
ATEX and IECEx for Zone 2/22
The UniCase is certified under OBAC 26 ATEX 0194X and IECEx OBAC 26.0005X, with marking II 3G Ex nR IIC T6 Gc and II 3D Ex tc IIIC T85°C Dc.
Standard Android tablet
The set is built around a standard Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ with an 11 inch WUXGA display, 128 GB or 256 GB storage and a microSD slot for up to 2 TB.
Tablet functions remain usable
The touchscreen, cameras and audio remain usable inside the enclosure. Three stainless steel push buttons operate the buttons of the tablet via a patented inlay system.
Modular inlay system
Device-specific, modular ABS corner inlays hold the tablet in position. The tablet can be replaced or renewed without modifying the certified enclosure.
IP64 and ESD-safe frame
The milled frame is made of ESD-safe POM-C. A 3 mm silicone rubber O-ring seals the back plate to the enclosure. Degree of protection IP64.

Understanding the marking
Zone 2 / Zone 22: Areas where an explosive gas atmosphere (Zone 2) or a cloud of combustible dust (Zone 22) is not likely to occur in normal operation and, if it does occur, will persist for a short period only.
Ex nR: Type of protection "n" with a restricted breathing enclosure (IEC 60079-15), which limits the ingress of gas into the enclosure.
Ex tc: Dust ignition protection by enclosure "t", level tc (IEC 60079-31).
IIC T6 / IIIC T85°C: Gas group IIC with temperature class T6 (maximum surface temperature 85°C), and dust group IIIC with a maximum surface temperature of 85°C.
Gc / Dc: Equipment protection levels Gc (gas) and Dc (dust), for use in Zone 2 and Zone 22 respectively.
The UniCase is not an intrinsically safe (Ex i) or flameproof (Ex d) design. The protection concepts are Ex nR for gas and Ex tc for dust.
Specific conditions of use (X)
Both certificates carry the suffix X. The following specific conditions of use apply:
- The Ex UniCase may only be opened or closed outside the hazardous area.
- The USB lid and the test port plug must always be mounted in the hazardous area.
- The device must be protected from impacts with high impact energy, against excessive UV light emission and against high electrostatic charge processes.
Applications
The Ex UniCase with Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ is intended for professional use in areas classified as Zone 2 (gas) or Zone 22 (dust), for example for:
