This complete set consists of the Armadex Ex UniCase enclosure, the device-specific inlay set and a new Apple iPad Pro 11 inch (M5). It is intended for buyers looking for an ATEX or explosion proof tablet for Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust). The UniCase enclosure is certified under ATEX (OBAC 26 ATEX 0194X) and IECEx (IECEx OBAC 26.0005X). The ATEX marking is II 3G Ex nR IIC T6 Gc and II 3D Ex tc IIIC T85°C Dc.
Explosion protection is provided by the enclosure: Ex nR (restricted breathing) for gas and Ex tc (protection by enclosure) for dust. The touchscreen, cameras, microphones, speakers and USB-C port remain accessible; the USB-C port is intended for use outside the hazardous area only. Because the enclosure is separate from the tablet, the same certified UniCase can later take another supported tablet model with the matching inlay set.

Tablet functions remain usable
Touchscreen operation through the polycarbonate display window. Three stainless steel push buttons operate the tablet buttons via a patented inlay system. Cameras, microphones and speakers remain accessible.
Modular and upgrade-ready
The tablet is held in place by device-specific, modular ABS corner inlays. With the matching inlay set, the same certified enclosure can take another supported tablet model.
Certified ambient temperature
The Ex certification of the enclosure covers an ambient temperature (Tamb) of -20°C to +50°C in operation and -20°C to +60°C in storage. Main enclosure milled from ESD-safe POM-C.

How the protection works
Ex nR (restricted breathing): the enclosure limits the ingress of an explosive gas atmosphere. Applies to gas, Zone 2.
Ex tc (protection by enclosure): the enclosure keeps combustible dust out and limits its surface temperature (T85°C). Applies to dust, Zone 22.
The Ex UniCase is not an intrinsically safe (Ex i) or flameproof (Ex d) design. Its equipment protection levels are Gc (gas) and Dc (dust).
Specific conditions of use (X)
Both certificates carry the X suffix. The following specific conditions of use apply:
- The Ex UniCase may only be opened or closed outside the hazardous area.
- The USB lid and the test port plug must always be fitted in the hazardous area.
- The device must be protected against impacts with high impact energy, against excessive UV light and against processes that generate high electrostatic charges.
Applications
The set is intended for professional use in Zone 2 and Zone 22 areas, with the functions of the iPad Pro available inside the certified enclosure.
