The Armadex Ex UniCase with Microsoft Surface Go 4 is a complete set for use in hazardous areas classified as Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust). The set consists of the certified Ex UniCase enclosure, the device-specific inlay set and a Microsoft Surface Go 4 tablet with a 10.5 inch display and Windows 11 Pro. It is intended for buyers looking for an ATEX or explosion proof tablet for Zone 2 who want to work with a standard Windows tablet.
The enclosure is certified under ATEX certificate OBAC 26 ATEX 0194X and IECEx certificate IECEx OBAC 26.0005X. Gas protection is based on restricted breathing (Ex nR) and dust protection on protection by enclosure (Ex tc), with degree of protection IP64. The touchscreen, cameras, microphones and speakers remain usable, and the tablet's physical buttons are operated through three stainless steel push buttons.

ATEX marking II 3G Ex nR IIC T6 Gc and II 3D Ex tc IIIC T85°C Dc under OBAC 26 ATEX 0194X. IECEx marking Ex nR IIC T6 Gc and Ex tc IIIC T85°C Dc under IECEx OBAC 26.0005X. Both certificates were issued by OBAC Sp. z o.o. in Gliwice, Poland.
Protection concepts nR and tc
Gas protection by restricted breathing (Ex nR, IEC 60079-15) and dust protection by enclosure (Ex tc, IEC 60079-31). The enclosure has degree of protection IP64.
Windows 11 Pro on the Surface Go 4
Intel Processor N200 with Intel UHD Graphics, 8 GB LPDDR5 memory and a choice of 64, 128 or 256 GB storage. Windows Hello face sign-in, hardware TPM 2.0 and Windows 11 Secured-core PC.
Tablet functions remain available
The touchscreen, cameras, microphones and speakers remain usable inside the enclosure. Three stainless steel push buttons operate the tablet's buttons via a patented inlay system. Wireless data transfer runs via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Modular inlay system
Device-specific modular ABS corner inlays position the Surface Go 4 in the enclosure. The tablet can be replaced without changing the certified enclosure.
Enclosure construction
Milled frame made of ESD-safe POM-C, an impact-resistant display window and a 3 mm silicone rubber O-ring between back plate and enclosure. Ambient temperature in operation: -20°C to +50°C.

Specific conditions of use (X)
Both certificates carry the suffix X. The following specific conditions of use apply:
- The Ex UniCase may only be opened or closed outside the hazardous area.
- The USB lid and the test port plug must always be mounted in the hazardous area.
- The device must be protected from impacts with high impact energy, against excessive UV light and against high electrostatic charge processes.
The USB socket in the frame is intended for use in non-hazardous areas only.
Applications
The set is intended for professional use in areas classified as Zone 2 (gas) or Zone 22 (dust), with the functions of the Surface Go 4 available inside the certified enclosure. Typical tasks include:
