The BARTEC ET60/65EX2 is a 10.1 inch Android tablet for Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust) hazardous areas, for buyers looking for an ATEX, intrinsically safe or explosion proof tablet for these zones. It is certified under ATEX (EPS 25 ATEX 1 087 X) and IECEx (IECEx EPS 25.0018X) with the type of protection Ex ic, intrinsic safety, with the marking Ex ic IIC T4 Gc for gas and Ex ic IIIC T135°C Dc IP64 for dust.
According to BARTEC, the tablet was co-engineered with Zebra Technologies. It runs Android 14 (upgradeable to Android 16) on a Qualcomm 6490 octa-core processor with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, and comes with the Zebra Mobility DNA software tools. Barcode scanning
1D/2D barcodes can be read with the 16 MP rear camera. The optional SE55 Advanced Range scan engine with IntelliFocus reads from near contact up to 12 m, according to BARTEC. Configurations with the scan engine carry the additional marking "op is".
Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, NFC and optional 5G
All models have Wi-Fi 6E (2x2 MU-MIMO), Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. The ET65EX2 adds 5G FR1, 4G and 3G with eSIM and nano SIM, support for private LTE/5G networks and dual-band GNSS.
Removable 8,920 mAh battery
BARTEC states a run time of 10 hours indoor (WLAN on, 50% backlight). An internal super capacitor keeps the tablet powered during a battery swap. The battery may only be changed or charged outside the hazardous area.

Understanding the marking
Ex ic: intrinsic safety with protection level "ic", which limits the electrical energy in the device. Suitable for equipment protection levels Gc and Dc (Zone 2 and Zone 22).
op is: inherently safe optical radiation according to IEC 60079-28. This applies to the configurations with the SE55 scan engine.
IIC T4 Gc: gas group IIC, temperature class T4 (maximum surface temperature 135°C), equipment protection level Gc.
IIIC T135°C Dc IP64: dust group IIIC, maximum surface temperature 135°C, equipment protection level Dc, degree of protection IP64.
Not for Zone 1 or Zone 21: the tablet is a category 3 device (II 3G / II 3D).
Specific conditions of use (X)
Both certificate numbers carry the suffix X. The certificates state the following specific conditions of use:
- The battery pack shall be changed or charged only outside hazardous areas.
- Only battery pack type B7-T2Z0-0001/**** shall be used.
- Connecting or disconnecting external ports, opening the enclosure or replacing the battery pack while live is only permitted when no potentially explosive atmosphere is present.
- The equipment shall be protected from impacts with high impact energy and from processes that generate high electrostatic charges.
- The manufacturer's safety instructions shall be followed strictly.
