For buyers looking for an intrinsically safe or explosion proof Windows tablet: the protection concept on the certificate is intrinsic safety Ex ic, with the marking II 3G Ex ic IIC T4 Gc for gas and II 3D Ex ic IIIB T135°C Dc for dust (TÜV SÜD Type Examination Certificate TPS 23 ATEX 123637 0002 X Rev. 01). The R8-EX is certified under ATEX only; it has no IECEx certificate.

The R8-EX is equipment category 3 (EPL Gc and Dc). It is not intended for Zone 1, Zone 21, Zone 0, Zone 20, for conductive dust (group IIIC) or for mining (group I).
Specific conditions of use (X)
- The tablet must be used with the leather bag supplied by Twinhead, fitted as described in the user manual.
- The tablet must not be connected to any external device.
- Charge the battery only in a safe area, with the Twinhead power adapter FSP065-RBBN3 (19 V, 3.42 A, 65 W).
Warning labels on the tablet according to the certificate:
- Use only Japone Technology Inc. R8-H (7200 mAh) or R8-M (3600 mAh) batteries.
- Do not replace or charge the battery when an explosive atmosphere is present.
- Do not open when an explosive atmosphere is present.
The manufacturer's instructions manual is part of the certification. Durabook's accessory list includes the "ATEX Protection Case R8-EX"; the datasheet does not state whether the case is supplied with the tablet as standard, so check this in your quote. The accessory list also includes a USB-C AC adapter, which is not the adapter model named on the certificate.
