The i.safe MOBILE IS930.M1 is an intrinsically safe 8 inch Android tablet designed for use in mines susceptible to firedamp. In the ATEX marking I M1 Ex ia I Ma IP64, equipment group I stands for equipment intended for mines susceptible to firedamp (methane), and category M1 means the equipment is designed with a very high level of protection so that it can remain in operation while an explosive atmosphere is present (equipment protection level Ma). The protection concept is intrinsic safety "i", protection level ia for mining.
The current IECEx certificate (IECEx EPS 19.0063X, issue 2) and the ANZEx certificate also list the gas marking Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and the dust marking Ex ib IIIC T135°C Db IP6X. The i.safe MOBILE EU Declaration of Conformity lists the matching ATEX markings II 2G Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and II 2D Ex ib IIIC T135°C Db IP6X. The i.safe MOBILE datasheet and product page list the mining approvals only, and the ATEX certificate revision published by i.safe MOBILE shows the mining marking only. The gas and dust markings appear on the current IECEx and ANZEx certificates and in the i.safe MOBILE EU Declaration of Conformity, safety instructions and operating manual. Before using the tablet in Zone 1, 2, 21 or 22, check the marking on the device label and the certificate.
Specific conditions of use (X)
- Charge the battery only outside hazardous areas. Wired data connections are also only allowed outside hazardous areas.
- Do not open the interface covers in an explosive atmosphere.
- Protect the device from impacts with high impact energy, against permanent UV light emission and against high electrostatic charge processes.
- Protect the device from exposure to oil, greases and hydraulic fluids.
- Permitted ambient temperature -20°C to +60°C.
According to the certificate, the maximum voltage Um = 5.88 V is ensured by using the Docking Station DS930.1, the i.safe PROTECTOR cables or other accessories specified by i.safe MOBILE. In the hazardous area, the microSD cards IS-SD164.1 and IS-SD1128.1 may be used in the SD card slot; other SD cards and SIM cards must comply with the intrinsic safety entity parameters given in the certificate. The i.safe MOBILE safety instructions add that the device may only be charged at ambient temperatures between +5°C and +35°C, that all gaskets must be present and functional, and that the device must not be exposed to aggressive acids or alkalis. Always follow the certificate and the manufacturer's safety instructions.
