Specific conditions of use (X)
Both certificates carry the suffix X. The following specific conditions of use apply:
- The battery may only be replaced outside the hazardous area.
- The device must be protected against excessive UV light and high electrostatic charge processes.
- The USB-C interface is protected by an IP interface cover and may only be opened outside the hazardous area.
- The 16-pin ISM interface must be closed with its cover when it is not in use in the hazardous area.
- The permitted ambient temperature range is -20°C to +55°C; the permitted charging temperature range is 0°C to +45°C.
According to the certificate, the 12-pin docking interface may remain open inside the hazardous area, and commercially available microSD and nano-SIM cards may be used in their slots in the hazardous area. The 16-pin ISM interface may be used in the hazardous area with approved accessories, including the IS-HS2A.1 in-ear headset and the IS-PTTB1A.1 PTT button with an IS-HDHS1x.1 headset. For installations in North America, the conditions of QPS certificate LR3081-9 apply.

i.safe MOBILE designed the IS945.2 for data communication in the process industry and in automation, with integration into the existing system landscape via 4G/5G campus networks or Wi-Fi 6. Typical tasks in areas classified as Zone 2 or Zone 22 include:

The IS945.2 is category 3 equipment (EPL Gc and Dc). It is suitable for Zone 2 and Zone 22 only, not for Zone 0, 1, 20 or 21. For Zone 1/21, i.safe MOBILE offers the IS945.1 (Ex ib), and for mining the IS945.M1. The IS940.2 is the Android version on the same certificates.
