The Xciel XCRiPad Air 11 is a rugged plastic enclosure for the Apple iPad Air 11 inch (2024, M2). It allows the iPad to be used in ATEX Zone 2 areas with explosive gas atmospheres, for buyers looking for an ATEX, intrinsically safe or explosion proof iPad for that zone. The protection concept is Ex ic, intrinsic safety. ATEX listing confirmation TUVNA 24 EX 513X states the protection method Ex ic IIC T4 Gc for an ambient temperature of -20°C to +50°C. The enclosure is not intended for Zone 1 or for dust zones (Zone 21 or Zone 22).

Xciel supplies the case-only option in two versions: an ATEX Zone 2 version that the customer can fit to their own iPad, and a version that also carries the North American Class I, Division 2 rating, for which the iPad is sent to Xciel for installation. Please state in your request which version you need. Once fitted, the iPad must not be removed from the enclosure (see the conditions of use below).

Listing confirmation TUVNA 24 EX 513X carries the X suffix. The following special conditions apply:

• Warning, explosion hazard: do not connect or charge/recharge the equipment unless the area is known to be non-hazardous.
• Use only an Apple-recommended AC charger.
• The tablet must not be removed from the case.
• The equipment shall not be rubbed or cleaned with solvents or a dry cloth when used within a potentially explosive atmosphere.

The Class I, Division 2 certificate LC22375-1 adds the following conditions of acceptability:

• No other equipment shall be connected to the device while in the hazardous area.
• The device shall not be charged while in a hazardous area.
• Audio jack and data/charger port connections are not intended to be connected or disconnected in hazardous locations.
